Situated on the ancestral land of the Southern Pomo and Coastal Miwok people, Guerneville is a unique and vibrant town nestled between the shores of the lower Russian River, towering redwood groves and rolling vineyards. Though the full-time, year round population is 4,747 – a vibrant tourist industry keeps the town bustling from Spring well into Fall. River rafting, hiking trails, wine tasting and the famous Armstrong Woods State Park draws Californian adventurers, wine lovers and especially LGBTQ+ tourists thanks to the towns rich history as a queer haven. It’s a truly unique community that brings together young and old, nature and nightlife, history and progress. 
 

At present, Guerneville is part of “unincorporated Sonoma County” which has a population of 100,000 spread across dozens of diverse communities - all represented by just one District Rep. Incorporation of the lower Guerneville and the Russian River area would allow the proposed city to take advantage of the massive revenue generated by their tourism industry and leverage it for services that are currently severely under funded like refuse, septic, lighting, road infrastructure and police. It would also create the autonomy needed to manage their unique land use and zoning needs in order to best support both a quiet escape for residents, and the vital tourism industry.
